Sunny;and hosts the widely popular Egg Fest every November and are looking forward to bringin more foodie events to their store throughout the year.
Omar Flores was introduced into the culinary world at a young age. His father was a restaurant owner, so Omar started helping him in the kitchen as soon as he could hold a knife. A graduate of the Culinary Institute Of America, he staged at several restaurants around the country before finally settling in Dallas Texas as Executive Sous Chef at Abacus Restaurant where he won “Rising Star Chef in Dallas 2008.”
In 2012 Chef Flores opened Driftwood in 2012 in the Bishops Arts District of Dallas, Texas specializing in casual, high-quality seafood. In 2013 Chef Flores departed Driftwood to concentrate on his Spanish restaurant, Casa Rubia. Located in Trinity Groves in West Dallas, Casa Rubia was nominated by the James Beard Foundation for ‘2014 Best New Restaurant’, Texas Monthly ‘Top Ten Best New Restaurants’, received a Four Star Review from the Dallas Morning News, and was chosen as one of the ‘Best Restaurants in the South’ by Southern Living Magazine.
In 2016 Chef Flores spread his wings with the casual concept, Whistle Britches. Here, Omar is all about serving the tastiest, juiciest, and crunchiest chicken in town. The pickle brined bird, farm-fresh ingredients, and soulful cooking leave guests wanting more. The scratch kitchen is always baking fresh buttermilk biscuits and some of the best chicken sandwiches in town. Couple all that with a great local craft beer selection and inventive cocktails, and you soon realize why Omar and his team came up with the name Whistle Britches. Whistle Britches second location opened at The Shops at Willow Bend in 2018.TICKETS
