05.02 Mezclar: Celebrating Modern Mexican for Cinco de Mayo

Four Corners & Mexican food fans mixed up their Cinco De Mayo celebrations this year at Mezclar: A Celebration of Modern Mexican Fare on May 2, 2018. Seven of Dallas's top Hispanic chefs got together for an amazing night of Mexican cuisine. Original dishes such as the Duck Flautas disappeared in a flash! Then the evening finished strong with Anastacia Quinones' deserts incuding a Smore's Taco.

02.17 BBQ Tour Smokin’ Good

I hopped on a bus for a BBQ tour this week from the people at RVC Promotions, these are the same people who do multiple weekly pop up dinners and cooking classes with great chefs from around the DFW area. They are also doing a series of BBQ tours which have taken guests to the Hill Country and all points in Dallas and Fort Worth.

The pop-up dinner is the ultimate in self-expression for a chef. No longer are the constraints of concept in play, instead the chef may allow his culinary imagination to take flight and escape the daily grind of a set menu. This may have been true at a recent dinner held in the warehouse of 1888 Olive Press located in East Dallas and owned by a former Lamborghini salesman, Kenneth Hamburger, II who hosted the James Beard winning and exec chef from Smoke, Tim Byres.

PLANO – WHISTLE BRITCHES IS COMING TO SHOPS AT WILLOW BEND! That was one of the biggest takeaways from the Neiman Marcus Pop-Up Dinner Series that took place Thursday night. The man of the hour, Chef Omar Flores, made the announcement to a room full of diners who gathered at Mariposa Restaurant, located on the 3rd floor of the Dallas-based retail store.
